In 2006, Zhang formed his own company, with support from old friends, such as like Zheng Wei, Lin Hai, Tan Yizhe and Yan Zhongkun. Zhang didn't expect to make lots of money but just wanted to have the chance to produce music with friends of his who were turned down by other more commercial companies.

Zhang has given his all to the company and will soon release his next album. He named the company "Dong Yue" or Dong's music. It's taken from a part of his name - Dong - which means "east". And he hopes the music his company produces will take the world by storm as a symbol of China's music.
