Huang Guangyu, the Chairman of Gome Electrical Appliances

At the top of the list issued by a Shanghai-based researcher, is Huang Guangyu, the Chairman of Gome Electrical Appliances. With a fortune estimated at 17-and-a-half billion US dollars this year, he hit the top position for the third time.
Just behind is Du Shuanghua, a 43-year-old steel tycoon whose wealth is estimated at just over 5 billion US dollars. The 50 richest individuals in the 2008 China Rich List had 2.43 billion US dollars of personal wealth on average, a dip of more than 20 percent from a year earlier.
