Beijing: more limits on government cars
Adjust font size:

After two months of traffic restrictions, Beijing will take further steps to limit traffic and reduce pollution. The new rules will focus on government-owned cars.

Under the new rules, each government-owned car will be banned from driving one day a week. Which day the car is banned will depend on the last digit of their license plate number. Cars ending with either a one or a six will be banned on Mondays, those ending with a two or a seven will be banned on Tuesdays, and so on. There are more than 100-thousand government-owned vehicles in Beijing.

The government hopes the restrictions on these vehicles will significantly help to improve air quality and energy saving in the city.
