Shanghai World Financial Center, the tallest skyscraper on the Chinese mainland and the third-tallest in the world, is now officially open.
The 492-meter-high building is in the Lujiazui area of Pudong District, which is often called the "Wall Street of China" and overlooks the Huangpu River. It has 101 floors above ground and three floors underground. The 94th to 100th floors are an observation deck and will open to tourists on Saturday. With tickets ranging from 110 to 150 yuan, it's expected to pull in up to 3 million visitors every year.
Building of the skyscraper began in 1997, but was suspended amid the Asian financial crisis with construction only resuming in 2003.
