President arrives in Dushanbe for state visit

Chinese President Hu Jintao has arrived in Tajikistan's capital of Dushanbe for a state visit and to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. Hu Jintao flew to Dushanbe from Seoul after concluding a state visit to the Republic of Korea.

President Hu Jintao was met at the airport by Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon.

Hu Jintao says there's been smooth development in bilateral relations with tangible results achieved in the areas of politics, economics and security.

Hu Jintao says China and Tajikistan have supported each other on major and sensitive issues of mutual concern, and cooperated under multilateral frameworks including the SCO and the United Nations.

During his visit to Tajikistan, President Hu will sum up where bilateral ties are at, and blueprint key areas for future cooperation.

During his stay in Dushanbe, President Hu will hold talks with Rakhmon and sign bilateral cooperation deals in politics, economics and trade.

President Hu will also attend Thursday's annual SCO summit.

During his stay in Seoul, President Hu addressed South Korea's four major economic groups. He said trade and economic cooperation is an important element of Sino-South Korean relations, and has played a significant role in developing bilateral ties.

Hu Jintao has put forward a three-point proposal to boost economic cooperation between the two countries.

He has called on Chinese and South Korean enterprises to strengthen consultation and broaden cooperation to expand international markets and participate in regional integration.

President Hu said the Chinese government is willing to work with its South Korean counterpart to facilitate cooperation between the two countries' enterprises.
