Industrial tourism in Qingdao picks up

Qingdao has always been a hot tourist destination during the National Day holiday. The city’s tourism industry saw a harvest again this year. During the holiday which lasted eight days, one day longer than usual because the National Day was celebrated together with the Mid-Autumn Day this year, Qingdao received 6.09 million tourists, up 15 percent year on year. Tourism consumption rose 18 percent year on year to 6.64 billion yuan. As more people are now visiting Qingdao for a vacation instead of simply sightseeing, such a change has driven the development of Qingdao’s industrial tourism. A number of industrial museums in the city like Tsingtao Brewery Museum, Qingdao Textile Museum and Qingdao Road Transportation Museum have become a big feature of the city’s tourism industry. In these museums, visitors can learn about the development of Qingdao’s enterprises over the past century. |
