Located at the Jiaozhou economic development zone, Qingdao CIMC Reefer Container Manufacture Co is one of the largest producers of refrigerated containers in the world, with a 70,000 annual capacity.

The company has topped in annual sales across the world for eight straight years, with a 30 percent market share.

And in the special reefer container area, which requires higher technological levels, the manufacturer gained a much higher global market share of 60 percent, with wide-ranging product lines and advanced production technologies.

The industry has suffered from dramatic drops in prices in recent years, affected by the macro environment, and increases in prices of raw materials and human resources. And the company has resorted to technological transformation to open new markets as countermeasure to the adversities, according to Nian Junlai, vice general manager of the company.

Large numbers of welding robots have been put into use, said Nian. Besides equipment upgrading, the company also innovated in management and work flow.

Through industrial upgrading, the company doubled its production efficiency with half of its previous workforce, added Nian.
