Qingdao preserves the former residence of Kang Youwei (康有為故居), a prominent political thinker, reformer and scholar of the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

The house was originally built in 1899. In 1924, Kang Youwei purchased it and lived here until his death in March 1927. It is now a key site under provincial protection. It was renovated by Qingdao municipality at the beginning of 2000 and opened to the public during the National Day of the same year.

Situated on Little Fish Hill, Tianyou Garden is a two-story European-style house. In addition to a statue of Kang, the garden also showcases his political and calligraphic works.
