The construction of Metro Line 12, which will link Minhang District with Pudong New Area, will start within this year.
The line, running from the west of the city to the northeast, is expected to be finished by 2012, according to the Metro operator, Shanghai Shentong Group.
The Line 12 will run between the Qixin Road station in Minhang and the Shangchuan Road station in Pudong, and pass through Xuhui, Luwan, Jing'an, Zhabei, Hongkou and Yangpu districts.
It will have 32 underground stations along the 39.5-kilometer route, and 14 stations will have interchanges with other lines, including 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.
