The National Development and Reform Commission has approved the feasibility study report for the construction of a new airport in Kunming.
The project aims to meet the requirement of handling 38 million passengers annually by 2020. The new airport will have a 4,000 meter long and 60 meter wide runway, a 4,000 meter long and 45 meter wide runway; a 550,000 square meter terminal building; a 2,800 square-meter tower; and other supporting facilities including air traffic management and a fuel supply system.
According to local media, this new airport is estimated to require an investment of CNY23.1 billion.
