The Beijing Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games adjusted ticketing procedures for the last batch of Games tickets to be sold to reduce waiting times, its Website said yesterday.
Thousands of people waited in line on chairs, under tents or on bamboo mats last night at booths at various Olympic venues to snap up tickets that went on sale at 9am today in Beijing.
According to BOCOG, ticket booths can change selling procedures to suit their circumstances. Any changes in policy need to be released at every booth.
Every booking office is supposed to indicate the number of tickets available for particular events, BOCOG said on it Website.
Beijing police have detained 60 people suspected of scalping Olympic tickets in the past two months. Some of the scalpers have been accused of reselling tickets at prices up to 100 times face value.
About 250,000 tickets went on sale this morning.
