The Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration has set up an office at the Hongkou District Public Security Bureau.
Residents in Hongkou District can receive passports from 8:30am to 5pm at 260 Minhang Road from Monday to Saturday.
Applicants previously had to travel to the Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration on Minsheng Road in Pudong New Area.
The service is restricted to residents registered in Hongkou District at present, but officials said they will expand the service to people living in other districts including Yangpu, Zhabei and Baoshan in the near future.
