Uganda celebrated its National Pavilion Day with a show of traditional singing and dancing.
Serapio Rukundo, Uganda's Minister of Tourism, Trade & Industry, said that after the African country set up ties with China, the ties have been developing smoothly.
The two countries cooperated in fields such as politics, economy, society, culture, science and technology to promote the bilateral ties, Rukundo said.
Through this Expo, visitors have known more about Uganda's unique tourism resources and he hoped that this will boost the tourism in this country, Rukundo said.
Zhu Shanzhong, Vice Chairman of National Tourism Administration of The People's Republic of China, said that China and Uganda has long tradition of friendship and Expo 2010 received supports from countries including Uganda.
The Joint-Africa Pavilion which houses the Uganda Pavilion is Expo 2010's largest joint pavilion, Zhu said.
The Joint-Africa Pavilion has 43 national pavilions inside, which is the most in existing World Expos, Zhu added.
Artists from Uganda perform with traditional African features at the ceremony.
The Uganda Pavilion exhibited the Rwenzori Mountains, Lake Victoria and the capital of Kampala to showcase the country's rural scenery, lake view and urban glamour, Zhu said.
Uganda is an inland country in the eastern African continent rich in water resources.
The Uganda pavilion showcases the country's geological and cultural diversity, cultural and religious tolerance, social harmony with equality and environmental sustainability. It also exhibits the country's planning philosophy, urbanization and efforts to protect the environment. The pavilion's theme is “Philosophy and Development of Urbanization in Uganda.”
