The World Expo promises to be a fun-filled place with the celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival tomorrow.

Among the planned activities, Miss Macau will hand out gifts during a parade, kung fu masters will perform, Expo volunteers will be asking for hugs from visitors and imperial dances from the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) will be staged.

The Taiwan Pavilion will turn its pavilion into a "moon" for the festival.

The pavilion features the world's largest LED ball, which will be used to represent the moon.

Some kung fu masters, most of whom are champions of world martial arts competitions, will perform at Tak Seng On Pawnshop tomorrow morning. The masters will portray characters made famous by Hong Kong writer Louis Cha, better known by his pen name Jin Yong. Cha is well-known for his kung fu stories.

Lucky draws will be held in both the Macau Pavilion and the pawnshop. Miss Macau will pose with visitors and present gifts to lucky visitors. She will be dressed as Chang'e, the Chinese goddess of the moon.

The Republic of Korea Pavilion will also participate in the festival, offering traditional Korean dance performances at Asia Square through Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Expo organizer has prepared a stage show of imperial dances from the Tang Dynasty. It will make its debut at the Entertainment Hall and is free.

The one-hour show will be staged tomorrow at 6pm and 8pm and on Thursday at 1pm, 3pm, 6pm and 8pm.

Many of the scenes in the performance are reminiscent of Tang Dynasty paintings exhibited in Taipei's Palace Museum, said Chen Mei-o, director of the show.

Last but not least, don't be surprised if you are asked for a hug by Expo volunteers tomorrow.

The hugs idea was initiated by students from Shanghai International Studies University.

The volunteers will accept hugs from visitors and pass them on to other Expo workers as a "reward" for working on the holiday, which is meant for family reunions.

About 9,000 mooncakes will be given to volunteers to thank them for their service.
