The push for local goods came after Hunan Party Secretary Zhou Qiang paid a visit to his province's pavilion - then still under construction.

He stressed the structure's need for local elements and features.

Gan Lin, Hunan's vice governor in charge of foreign trade, echoed the advice, counseling local enterprises to join the world gala.

Members of the Broad Group - a private air conditioner producer - heard Lin's call and opened an exhibit at the event.

The company - one of the Expo's 18 global partners - is the only private establishment with its own pavilion.

It installed a total of 1.3 million sq m of air conditioning system for the ongoing show.

Hunan, a noted global producer of fireworks, also boasted exhibitions by two of the pyrotechnic industry's leading brands.

Each provided products for the 2008 Olympic ceremonies and the 60th anniversary of the founding of New China.

Xiang emboridary, Xiang porcelain, chrysanthemum stones, and Yiyang bamboo carvings are popular attractions for visitors, as well.

Sunzone Energy and South China Zhuzhou Eletric Vehicle Co have provided top products for the event.
