As a permanent construction in Urban Best Practice Area (UBPA), the unique Hamburg House is China's first certified passive house, a rigorous standard for energy efficiency first developed in Germany. The house requires 10 percent of the amount of energy needed for heating or cooling a traditional building to maintain an inside temperature of 25 degrees by making full use of wind power, geothermal energy and solar energy for heating, cooling and power.
