The Twelve Girls Band is a Chinese musical group initially composed of twelve girls and later another female member joined in the band. Those girls are good at playing both traditional Chinese and Western music on traditional Chinese instruments. Established on June 18, 2001, the women were selected from more than 4,000 contestants. Each member is classically-trained in conservatories in China, including the China Academy of Music, the Chinese National Orchestra, and the Central Conservatory of Music.
