Taking up nearly 3,000 square meters on the Tianzhao Mountain in Guangyuan city, the Fantian Temple embodies the distinct features of royal architecture in Tang Dynasty (618-907).

 

Starting construction during Wei Dynasty (220-265) and experiencing expansions over Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), the Buddhist temple was once seriously damaged and built to its present scale in the reconstruction works initiated by Master Jingtian in 1989.

 

It has been known as the site for Wu Zetian (624-705), China’s only Empress in history, to pay tribute to Buddha when she was at young ages. And it is now the site for Buddhist pilgrimage and popular temple fairs on the 19^thday of the second, sixth and ninth lunar months.

 

The surrounding sceneries are breathtaking, luring vacationers to take a respite from summer heat among verdant landscape and cool, fresh mountain air each year.
