Sichuan Tourism Association announced six Buddhist pilgrimage tours at a press conference on March 28.

Chai Yanzhu, executive deputy president of the association, said that the routes are aimed to attract international tourists while promoting Sichuan’s Buddhist culture.

World Heritage sites Mount Emei, Leshan Giant Buddha, and Dazu Rock Carvings are covered on the routes, as well as a number of national cultural relic sites.

Expressways and high-speed railways running through Sichuan and the neighboring Chongqing municipality offer better accessibilities to the attractions.

Digital maps based on a smart tourism platform will help tourists navigate through the routes.

Sichuan will also organize various activities to promote Buddhist culture, including exhibitions and charity dinners at Mount Emei, one of the four sacred Buddhist mountains in China.
