Saturated in profound Buddhist culture, the scenic Mount Emei in Sichuan is scheduled to host a series of activities in early April to pay homage to its patron Samantabhadra, known in China as Puxian Bodhisattva.

 

From April 1 to 8, the large and small temples around the mountain will be hosting various worshipping ceremonies for pilgrims to attend.

 

The Dafo Temple at the mountain foot has planned activities from April 1 to 6, including charitable mendicancy, various ceremonies to pay tribute to Samantabhadra, opening ceremony for Buddhist art exhibition, scriptures writing, and a tea tasting where boutique Mount Emei tea will be served.

 

Other temples including Baoguo Temple, Wannian Temple, and Huazang Temple, located through the mountain foot to the highest peaks, will host a variety of activities to pray to the bodhisattva, to mark the Tomb Sweeping Day, and to free captive animals.
