The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region received 1.64 million tourists during the three-day Labor Day holiday from April 29 to May 1, with the tourism revenue totaling 646 million yuan.
Self-driving travel was very popular as urban suburbs and villages became the first choice for tourists during the holiday. It is reported that rural areas in Ningxia received 287,500 tourists with the tourism revenue totaling 21.32 million yuan, up by 27.7 percent and 58.3 percent respectively.
The number of tourists from outside of Ningxia totaled 929,800, accounting for 56.8 percent of the total figure.
