The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region received 1.65 million tourists during the 7-day holiday of Eid al-Adha and Mid-autumn Day from September 11 to 17, with the tourism revenue totaling 1.04 billion yuan, according to Ningxia Tourism Development Committee on September 17.
Due to the free tickets policy, the Sand Lake Scenic Spot received 55,600 tourists, over half of which came from Ningxia locally, said the spokesman for Land Lake.
During the holiday, various activities were held at the Chinese Hui Culture Park, which received 80,000 tourists, a new high compared with former figures.
Agritourism also became popular as the tourist numbers received by Wuzhong and Guyuan cities at farmers courtyards increased by 5 times and 4 times respectively year on year.
