With the implementation of "Belt and Road" Initiative, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region has stepped up opening-up process and scale over the past years. Until now, there have been 95 Ningxia corporations making investment overseas, among which 95 percent are private ones.
"Before 2010, there had been less than 10 Ningxia enterprises making investment overseas," said the spokesperson for Ningxia Commerce Department. "In the first quarter of this year, there were 10 newly added registered corporations investing in foreign countries. The investment fields have expanded from Ningxia specialties to agriculture, forestry, fishery, IT, software and other sectors." The spokesperson added that now there have been 20 Ningxia enterprises establishing workshops in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, UAE, Russian and other countries along the "Belt and Road."
It is reported that Ningxia has completed a total overseas investment of US$566 million since Ningxia Inland Opening-up Economic Pilot Zone was established in 2012.
