The selection of China’s ‘Top 10 Snow Countries’ has been heatedly discussed on the Internet although it is not official. According to the ranking, the top 10 snow countries are Wusong Island in Jilin, Shuangfeng forest farm, Yichun, Jiangmo River Arctic Village, Ha’erbin and Yabuli in Heilongjiang, Aletai in Xinjiang, Yakeshi in Inner Mongolia, Hehuan Mountain in Taiwan, and Helan Mountain. It can be easily figured out that five snow countries come from Heilongjiang because of its geographical advantages. It is worth mentioning that the famous skiing resort Hehuan Mountain in Taiwan is also in the list owing to regional diversity.
Helan Mountain and Aletai are the only snow countries from Northwest. It is the first time that Helan Mountain has been in the list. However, the scenic spots in Helan Mountain had never heard about the selection before the publication of the result. A staff from the scenic spots showed his surprise, as he thought the snow countries might all be in the northeast. According to a travel agency participatng in the selection, the main standard was the selection for the most beautiful snowscapes. Although Helan Mountain is similar with the Loess Plateau in many people’s eyes, the beautiful snowscape there is worth recommending.
