Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region unveiled the plan to usher in 300 school buses this year to take students to and from school, and the first 100-odd buses have already began making their rounds, according to a recent news briefing hosted by the province's Traffic Management Bureau and Education Department.
The province launched an eight-month special rectification campaign last year to improve upon the shortage of transportation for the region's kindergartens and primary and middle schools.
The campaign also beefed up the awareness of road safety in teachers, students and their parents. No road accidents involving students to and from school have been reported to the region's traffic management department since the second half of last year.
The region will continue the campaign from Jan. 1 to Aug. 31 for the safe operation of school buses, said Shi Liwen, director of the Sports Health and Arts Education Office of the region's Education Department.
