The annual Mt. Siguniang (Mt. Four Sisters) worshipping festival takes place on May 4th of the lunar calendar. Legend has it that the four pretty girls of a local couple became the mountain on the same day to protect villagers against a demon. During the festival, local Tibetans, all in holiday dresses, take oil butter, Zanba, Qingke barley liquor and other food to the Chaoshan Ground to worship the mountain. Meanwhile, hundreds of Lamas meditate together and chant with a respected old Lama. These activities, among others, are done in hope of a peaceful life and a bumper harvest.[China.org.cn]
