A powerful kingdom with a splendid civilization was born at this location over 1,300 years ago. Located in Zhada County, Tibet, the Guge Kingdom (古格王國遺址)?was a prosperous kingdom during 10th century - 16th centuries. Covering an area of 180,000 square meters, it has over 600 buildings, including houses, Buddhist towers and caves.

It has five well-preserved temples and halls. Inside of the temples are various kinds of delicate clay Buddha statue sculptures and colored frescoes. The site is very important for the study of Tibetan history and construction engineering during the 10th century.
