Air China, the country's flag carrier, recently announced an increase in fuel surcharges on flights between mainland China and Hong Kong, effective from April 1,2011.

Air China said that due to rising fuel prices, the fuel surcharges were raised from 140 yuan?to 164 yuan on a single flight.

On the same day, China Southern Airlines, the country's largest carrier, also increased fuel surcharges on flights between mainland China and Hong Kong or Macau to 194 yuan?from the previous 165 yuan.

This latest move follows recent raises in fuel surcharges on flights between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong by Cathay Pacific, Dragonair, and Shenzhen Airlines.
