The Great Wall is probably China's greatest cultural icon. The best restored section of the wall is at Badaling in the north of Yanqing County. This section was originally built in 1505 and is very accessible for travelers who are short on time or are not into long hikes.

Travel tips:

Best time to visit: Anytime – the wall is spectacular in all seasons.

Admission: 40 yuan for adults, 20 yuan for students

Getting there: Take No. 919 bus from the Deshengmen stop. The ticket prize is 7-12 yuan per person.
