A new tourist information center opened at the North Square of Qianmen Street. This center is co-administrated by the Beijing Tourism Bureau and the Tourism Bureau of Dongcheng District.

Sun Weijia, deputy director of the Beijing Tourism Bureau, said during the center's opening ceremony that the Qianmen commercial area has a history of 600 years, and is home to many time-honored brands and cultural relics. It has long been one of the most popular destinations for tourists in Beijing. Since reopening to the public in 2008, the commercial hub welcomed more than ten thousand visitors daily.

This new tourist information center is the third of its kind on the Qianmen Pedestrian Street, following the information centers at the Quanjude Peking duck restaurant and the Qianmen Tour Dispatch Hub.

Starting this year, the Beijing Tourism Bureau has been in cooperation with local tourism bureaus of the many districts in Beijing to set up tourist information centers, which are mostly located in large shopping malls, traffic hubs and well-known hotels and restaurants. The number of tourist information centers in Beijing has reached 110. The construction of a tourist information inquiry services network is in process.
