——Memorial of Jiexiu Anti-Japanese Democratic Government in Mianshan Mountain

On February 15, 1938, before the Japanese army occupied Jiexiu, Li Zhimin, a communist and the special envoy of the "Sacrifice Alliance," and Zhang Dehan, Jiexiu County head, led hundreds of staff from Jiexiu's government to Mianshan Mountain and established the Jiexiu Anti-Japanese Democratic Government in three caves in the Five Dhyani Buddhas area.

Hanging above the front door of the site is an inscribed board: "Jiexiu Anti-Japanese Democratic Government." It was written by Song Tao, the first director of the Publicity Department of Jiexiu. Feng Jianping, former Secretary of the Party Committee of Jiexiu, composed the couplet that is inscribed on the side posts: "Majestic Mianshan Mountain witnesses great exploits of ancestors, Surging Fenshui River eulogizes loyal souls of heroes."

In addition to the inscriptions, the cave still has the original furniture. The left cave house acted as an office for the Jiexiu leaders. In it, a lantern, ink stone and a book lay on a table. The right cave was used as a meeting room. In the middle of the room, an old-fashioned wooden armchair for the leader and stools for others surround a square table. Several oil paintings depict significant events and hang on the wall.

Located in a basement across the road, the Memorial of Jiexiu Anti-Japanese Democratic Government reflects Jiexiu's history. The Shanxi Cultural Development Steering Commission named the memorial "Patriotism Education Base." Covering 200 square meters, the memorial is divided into seven themes—"Sowing," "Start-up," "Stalemate," "Decisive battle," "Liberation," "Glory" and "Aspiration."
