Hainan is exploring ways of launching betting-type sport lotteries, according to www.hinews.cn.

The State Council, China's Cabinet, encouraged Hainan to develop pari-mutuel sports lotteries and instant sports lotteries on large international events in a tourism plan in January that aims to develop Hainan into an international tourist island.

Experts may discuss the issue during the upcoming BOAO International Tourism Forum in March.

A local lottery research center has been established to develop betting-type lotteries in Hainan. The head of the center said the projects in Hainan should be government-oriented.
