Liu said the bones were sent to Henan after they were found, but the whereabouts of the bones were unknown after the government structure underwent reform.

Wang Minghui, the expert who identified the age of the bones found in the Anyang tomb, said DNA tests on skulls and teeth in this case would not be helpful.

"Getting DNA samples from sculls and two teeth in bad shape is almost technically impossible," Wang told the Global Times Tuesday.

Anhui Commercial News quoted Li Can, an archaeologist from Bozhou, Anhui Province, where a tomb cluster belonging to Cao's clan was found, as saying Tuesday the Anyang tomb was quite rough and not in line with the style of the Eastern Han Dynasty.

Li said the tomb in Anyang could be one of the tombs from the Northern and Southern Dynasties (386 to 589).

Cao Weiguo from Henan Province said he believes all the villagers in Qibu village, Xutong county, which was near the other alleged Cao Zhi's tomb, are descendents of Cao Cao.

"We have 400 to 500 villagers. Our surname is Cao," he told the Global Times Tuesday. "I can't prove I am Cao's descendent but there is a chance."
