The National Development and Reform Commission and China's General Administration of Civil Aviation have jointly issued a circular concerning the new policy for collection of fuel surcharges for domestic air routes, saying the fuel surcharge will be linked to airlines' jet fuel costs, and airlines can decide themselves when and how much to collect.

According to the new pricing policy, China Eastern, China Southern, Air China, Hainan Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, and some others have published their pricing rates which are quite similar. Domestic routes up to 800 kilometers will be levied CNY20, and routes beyond 800 kilometers will be levied CNY50.

Some airlines have offered to waive the fuel surcharge for infants, while some will only levy half of the normal surcharge for children, disabled veterans, and disabled police agents.
