China's top 10 catering brands in 2016 were announced at an event dubbed as the domestic catering industry's "Oscars," held in Beijing on May 6, 2017.

Twelve awards in seven categories were given out, namely dinner, hotpot, group meal, Muslim food, exotic food, fast-food and snack food. A total of 120 enterprises were considered for the top awards.

In a joint proposal, these enterprises called on the whole industry to pay more attention to food quality and strive for sustainable development.

The awards were based on applications submitted by enterprises, recommendations by the association, online voting, expert review and media evaluation.

Jointly presented by China Cuisine Association, the Association of China Economic Press, China Economic Net and Beijing Business Today, the event was initiated to mark the 30th anniversary of the national cuisine society's founding.

The following is the list of the top 10 culinary brands in China, each embodying a unique local food culture.
