Yilan boasts two beautiful sand beaches, namely, White Sand Bay and Waiao Beach. Composed of shell sand, the beach of White Sand Bay is 500 meters long and 40 meters wide. It’s the perfect place for swimming, diving, sailing, and riding water motors throughout the year. "Mexico Beach" in the film Life of Pi was actually shot here.

Waiao Beach is a flat beach composed of fine sand. With a picturesque view, it attracts numerous visitors every year for extreme sports like paragliding and surfing.
