American media mogul Oprah Winfrey was rated the world's most powerful woman in entertainment in 2015 by Forbes magazine.

Winfrey, ranked 12th on the overall list of the latest "The World's 100 Most Powerful Women," was followed by American singer-songwriter Beyonce Knowles at 21th place and American TV host Ellen DeGeneres at 50th place.

A total of eleven women in entertainment were included in the Forbes' annual list, which was started in 2004 to rank the world's most powerful women who are shaping the world.

Only one Chinese female — actress and Weibostar Yao Chen — appears on the sub-list. Globally, six Chinese women were listed.

The ranking, which covers foremost heads of state, entrepreneurs, philanthropists and celebrity role models, is based on personal wealth, media presence and impact, according to the Forbes.
