The top ten best-selling cars totaled a combined sales volume of 3.03 million units in 2014, accounting for 24.51 percent of the Chinese mainland's car market, according to the annual statistics released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

The top ten best-selling compact/mid-size cars on the Chinese mainland have great appeal to value-conscious consumers due to their cost-effective performances.

A total of 19.7 million passenger vehicles were sold on the Chinese mainland in 2014, up 9.9 percent year on year. Of this figure, 12.5 million were in the car segment, a 3.1 percent increase year on year.

Langdong, the fifth generation Elantra customized for the Chinese market by Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., achieved a sales volume of 252,300 units on the Chinese mainland in 2014. The stretched version of the Elantra hit the market in August 2012.
