Gettysburg Museum & Visitor Center, Pennsylvania

A trip to Gettysburg is greatly enhanced by a visit to the Museum and Visitor Center in Gettysburg National Military Park. Opened in 2008, the museum displays objects including cannons, firearms, and uniforms. It also features the film A New Birth of Freedom and the spectacular the Gettysburg Cyclorama, the largest painting in the U.S. of the country. Completed in 1883, it depicts the fury of Pickett's Charge during the battle of Gettysburg, a crucial battle during the American Civil War.
