Li Keran is a renowned Chinese painter and art educator of the 20th century. He developed his own landscape painting style incorporating various ancient and contemporary masterpieces. His black landscape paintings are widely acknowledged as his most representative works with a high aesthetic value. His innovative employment of western elements, such as chiaroscuro, in his works has also exerted pioneering influences on the art world.
