Tsinghua University was established in 1911, originally under the name of Tsinghua Xuetang. At present, the university has 14 schools, 56 departments with faculties in science, engineering, the humanities, law, medicine, history, philosophy, economics, management, education and art. There are currently over 4,000 faculty members in the university, including 1172 full professors and 1,061 associate professors. Among them, there are 36 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and 32 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
