In 1986, Peggy Yu graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University, and later she went to the US to pursue her dreams. During her 10 year stay in the country, Yu not only obtained an MBA from New York University but also accumulated enough capital and experience to become an entrepreneur. In 1996, Yu married Li Zhiguo, and returned to China, where she founded Dangdang.com, an online book retailer.
After 14 years of growth and development, Dangdang made waves when it debuted on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on December 8, 2010. The company is now the largest online bookstore in China, and also provides audio and video products, home appliances, clothes, high-tech products, as well as maternal and baby products.
