Born in 1952 in Beijing, Major General Jin Yi'nan is director and professor of the Strategic Research Institute at the National University of Defense Technology (NUDT). His study focuses on national security strategy, international conflict and crisis management. He has published seven military-themed books as well as numerous articles. Jin's latest book, "Sufferings and Glories" became a hit after it was published in 2009. It vividly depicts the history of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the military history of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).
