French duo Jeremy Stravius and Camille Lacourt finished in a dead heat to share the men's 100 metres backstroke title at the world swimming championships on Tuesday.
The two touched the wall side by side with the same winning time of 52.76 seconds. Ryosuke Irie of Japan finished third in 52.98.
The 26-year-old Lacourt, ranked third in the semifinal, was the European champion in both 50m and 100m back, while his teammate Stravius, finished first in the semifinal, was the runner up of this discipline in 2010 Euro Championships.
Japanese Irie was the Asiad champion in this event. He finished second in semifinal.
