Hu Jiayan, deputy secretary of the General Administration of Sports, said at the inaugural meeting, "The final objective of the 2008 Beijing Wushu Tournament is not to win medals but to enhance our friendship with other countries via competitions and to encourage more people from home and abroad to practice Wushu to keep fit."
The Beijing 2008 Wushu Tournaments will be held from August 21 to 24. 128 athletes from 43 countries and regions will come to attend this event. Each delegation is allowed to attend 8 of 15 competition events at most.
