Ugandan boxer Ouma to bounce back in style
Adjust font size:

Former world junior middleweight champion Kassim "The Dream" Ouma has promised that he will bounce back to the boxing stage in a big way.

The Ugandan boxer, who is winding up a holiday in his home country of Uganda, is planning to return to the ring in a re-match with Saul Roman slated for early January.

Earlier in November, Ouma lost his first fight in the year 2007 by a split point's decision to Mexico's Saul Roman in California.

The Florida-based Ugandan fighter's record now stands at (28-4, 24 KOs) and the defeat was viewed by boxing pundits as a major setback.

However, Ouma warned those who think that with the losses he is finished.

"I'll prove them wrong. Tell them the Dream will be back," Ouma was quoted by New Vision on Tuesday as saying.

He insisted that there was nothing to get excited about his losses.

"It's normal to lose," he observed, explaining that a car accident he suffered in the US and frustrating fight postponements were also factors.

Ouma, who has been training at the Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) gym at Lugogo, will for the moment have to contend with a thumb injury.

His return in the East African country a fortnight ago was low key contrary to his rowdy homecoming earlier in the year.

Ouma last fought in December 2006 against former WBC and WBO middleweight champion Jermain "Bad Intentions" Taylor.
