Beijing's Olympic Anti-Corruption Hailed
Adjust font size:

The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games (BOCOG) has been praised by an international anti-corruption organization for its supervision committee overseeing all Games construction projects in an attempt to keep the 2008 Olympiad corruption-free.
?
An official from Transparency International, an anti-corruption organization, hailed the new BOCOG selection criteria for companies taking on construction projects as "very impressive", according to Outlook Weekly magazine.

In deciding which company will be awarded an Olympic project construction contract, the committee randomly and electronically selects several experts from the available pool, the article said.

In addition, all accounts relating to Olympic projects are thoroughly examined twice a week, the article said.

The procedures are stricter than those in some Western countries, an unnamed official told the magazine.
