Shanghai Shenhua captain Li Weifeng took an early bath as the CSL side were beaten 4-2 by Jeonbuk Motors in their Asian Champions League quarter-final return leg. The Koreans qualify for the semi-finals with a 4-3 aggregate victory.

Young striker Gao Lin, whose goal decided last week's first leg, put Shenhua ahead after 34 minutes. But Shenhua suffered an immediate setback when they lost captain Li Weifeng to a red card.

The Koreans took advantage, with Brazilian forward Ze Carlo netting either side of half time to level the aggregate score before Yeom Ki-hum and Chung Jung-kwan added two more goals.

Shenhua's German import Carsten Jancker reduced the arrears in the last minute with his first goal for the club since signing a loan deal in May.

Li Weifeng's third red card for Shenhua and his sixth in fifteen months proved costly, according to their head coach Wu Jingui. "We had control of the game in the first half and we even managed to get another goal to add to our lead, but we found it very difficult after Li Weifeng was sent off," he said.

"He is our captain and team leader so he should have known better and not done such a thing. This is the second time in three AFC Champions League games that he has been sent off so of course, I am very angry."
