The first Southeast Asia International Wushu tournament will be
held here from November 8 to 11, the organizers announced on
Tuesday.
The tourney, jointly organised by Chinese Wushu association and
Nanning Municipal Government, will draw hundreds of athletes from
China, all the ASEAN nations, South Korea, Japan, Australia, New
Zealand and DPR Korea.
"The tourney will feature not only the traditional Wushu
Skillsand Tricks but also the more competitive Sanshou," said Jing
Suijun, director of Nanning Sports Bureau.
Wushu, or Chinese martial arts, enjoys a high reputation in the
world. Nanning, the host city of the tourney, also boasts two world
champions Huang Chunni and Lin Jianshen.
