Guatemala and Honduras will meet in a friendly in the United States later this month as both teams prepare for CONCACAF Gold Cup qualifiers.

The duel will be played in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on March 16, the Guatemalan football federation said in a statement on Tuesday.

It will be the last chance for both teams to finalize preparations for their respective Gold Cup preliminary round clashes, to be played over two legs on March 21 and 25. Guatemala will face Guyana while Honduras will clash with Bermuda.

Guatemala and Honduras last met in a friendly in September 2023 when they played out a goalless draw, also in Fort Lauderdale.

Honduras holds the advantage in head-to-head clashes against its Central American rival with 17 wins, 12 losses and 18 draws.

The 2025 Gold Cup will be held in the United States between June 14 and July 6, bringing together 16 teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean.
